Get well NATALIE...

It is with great regret that last week Alan’s Daughter Natalie had an accident at home which has resulted in serious injuries...

 

The following is a statement from Alan & Pat

 

“Natalie is 39, she fell down her stairs at home on Thursday 20th March 2008. She was rushed to the DRI in Derby and was transferred the next day to the Queens Medical Centre Intensive Care Unit. She has suffered a fractured neck and a fractured skull in the fall, and has quite severe head injuries. She is now out of intensive care and is in the Surgical High Dependency Unit at the QMC. She is awake and is responding nicely, she is moving her limbs and more to the point she is a fighter, and god is she fighting. She is however extremely poorly and need months of rest and TLC. Visitors are restricted to immediate family  only, so I have put this posting on my site to keep all her friends up to date...this will be updated daily as and when we have any news to report. We the family are very encouraged by her recovery in the last week but we must make it very clear there is a very very long way to go. I must say we are deeply touched by the amount of best wishes we are receiving and please feel free to email me your comments and I will get them on to our get well Natalie page for her to read when she is home. Feel free to ask any questions also.”

I am pleased to say our Nat has moved to the lower dependancy, Neurological Ward and is no longer classed as critical, FANTASTIC work NATALIE !!!   She is now. in the phase of leaving her Coma and is looking quite a lot better in her face, she is moving her legs and arms with vigour and power. She is under physiotheraphy and is communicating with us with eye and facial movements, but she can understand us which is excellent She cant talk because she has a tiracyoctomy in her throat but this may be coming out soon. All in all we are happy with the progress, but we are told it will be a very very slow proceedure of reabilitation, but she is detrmined and strong so show then all Natalie, show them what your made of, all the best and well done my love, keep it up. Mum,Alan and all the familly xxxxx

Just like to say I'm really pleased that Natalie is starting to recover.Hope its a speedy recovery and that she is soon home again with her family.

Hi mum, When your home and you read this i just want you to know that i love you soooooooooooo much, and i have missed you loads and loads. Everyone has missed you loads too especially Tiger and Olive. Can't wait for you to come home cos, mamma and grandad bought you a giant chocolate easter bunny (Hope you'll share it with me) Nobody thinks it would happen to there mum especially my mum, But you have been fighting so well and you have been getting better every day. I'm so proud of you for trying to get better and not giving in. I didn't like it when you were in hospital it upset me alot to see you not being able to move or talk to me, but you are getting better now and i'm alot happier to know that you are improving more everyday because i know it's one day closer till your home again. I can't wait for us all to be back home again (altoghther). Just want you to know that while you have been in hospital mamma and grandad has been looking after me and jess, we've tried to be good, still a few arguments but mamma and grandad have been brill.

I have just visited the website, and was so pleased to read that you are making a good recovery, you keep moving those limbs with vigour girl!!!! absolutely fantastic news, yeah we know its gonna be a slow process, but you got the drive and determination, and when your able to speak properly, talk the hind legs off a donkey!!!!!!! well at least the ears off your family ha ha.

UPDATE ON NATALIE  22nd APRIL 2008

Good news !!!  Natalie is making slow but steady progress, she is now awake and can talk to us, not perfect but good enough just at the moment. She has improved with  her body strength and is now able to sit up with a little help from us. Yesterday she was offered and ate some ice cream and yoghurt, and should be having a puree dinner today. She is booked in at the Brain Rehabilitation Hospital at Derby but we do not know when she will be moved. All her friend and colleagues out there, please be patient on seeing Natalie as we all feel in the family that she would not like to be seen as she is at the moment and we will inform you when we feel she is ready for general visitors. Thank you all so much for your words of support it really mean allot to us all, thank you all for the cards and flowers too. Brilliant !!!!  All our love Alan, Pat and Family.

hospital. (My mum helped me to write it)

I was so upset when my mum told me you had fell and you was in hospital very

poorly.

my mum said she spoke to mamar and auntie natalie is getting a bit better

NATALIE UPDATE 9th MAY 2008

Hello everyone, I am very pleased and relieved to say our Nat is doing quite well, as you may know she has moved to the Derby Rehabilitation Centre for brain injuries. She has settled in now, (but does not like it...quote) We can talk to her and she can talk to us all be it slowly, she is dressed now all day and has begun rehab today. When I saw her at lunch today she was sitting up in bed eating Shepherds Pie with a fork and jelly and ice cream. We can joke and laugh with her, which under the circumstances is wonderful. She is in the future going for walking, talking, and general household duty rehabilitation over what may be 3 or 4 months. But I have to say she is defying all odds, typical Natalie, fighting on, as she must to get better, thanks for all the kind words you have all sent, feel free to continue as Natalie will be reading this when she gets home, so keep them coming even if you have sent messages before, no problem I will post them, pictures too if you like, thank you Alan, Pat & Familly.

NATALIE UPDATE  SATURDAY 5th JULY 2008

We are all very pleased to say that Natalie is making a wonderfull recovery and is now laughing and joking and walking with a frame (or without the frame) if we dont watch her. She saw the Surgeon who operated on her at Nottingham back in March the other day and he was delighted with her progress. Hopefully she will be coming home soon, actually she is at home as I write this for the weekend, but she should be home for good very soon. We took her to Cromford Resturant last night for a nice meal and she really enjoyed that. So all in all Its looking very good, a long way to go yet but were getting there, eventually!!!  Will keep everyone up to date on regular postings. Thanks to you all Alan,Pat & Familly XXX

Hi, Natalie, just managed to find the website after seeing an advert in the chippy. shocked when we heard the news rang your mum a few times but obviously she was at your side awaiting your recovery . kerrie has seen kristian loads in tescos and he keeps us up to date with progress. was gonna come and see you but heard that only family can come. now we have found this site will look for more updates. keep up the good work , you were always a quick mover LOL. BY god you don't do things by half. Keep up the determination you can do it !!!!!!!
